15.    REQUESTS AND MOTIONS BY COUNCIL MEMBERS

 

        a.      Motion to Reconsider Zoning Docket CZ-2012-19

         REQUESTS AND MOTIONS BY COUNCIL MEMBERS con’t

 

  • Councilor Dill encouraged the River Falls Fire District Commission to hold another community meeting to see if they could find some common ground.

 

  • Councilor Cates encouraged the members of the River Falls community to look into the possibility of merging with another fire district.

 

  • Councilor Baldwin requested a board and commission policy change that would require the boards’ minutes to reflect the number of votes cast for and against the items up for consideration.

 

  • Councilor Taylor encouraged the members of the River Falls community to get together and utilize the expertise they have to evaluate the situation. He also asked that existing building not be torn down prematurely.

 

  • Chairman Kirven stated it was National Aviation Week and he informed his colleagues of a proclamation that was presented to SCTAC on behalf of County Council in recognition of the week. 

 

  •  Councilor Burns stated he recently attended the South Carolina Association of Community Development luncheon. He stated this organization was working with other area organizations to go into some of the neighborhoods to not only revitalize them but to also provide micro loans and things like that to start small businesses in those areas. He felt this would be a great topic for Council and would like to see Mr. Livingston make a presentation to the Committee of the Whole on the matter.

 

  • Councilor Norris stated her pleasure with staff for working so well with City View. She stated she was also able to acquire funding for the children’s event in that community. 

 

  • Councilor Payne stated this Sunday night his church, as well as other churches in the upstate, was getting together to pray for America in what was being called, “Harvest America.” He encouraged everyone that would to join with them in doing the same.
